I'm going to keep this short, but I have to say this. I like American Horror Story because it's ridiculous, like an EC Comic perhaps. But those sounds they play during the opening credits are definitely robotic fart noises. Actually the first fart doesn't even sound mechanically filtered but more biological in nature. The sounds are not scary. They are farty. They resemble farts. Farts are not scary. I just wonder why they chose to do that. Who sat around at the recording console and heard it, and said "That's it! Man that is scary, especially the farts we smeared all over this somewhat eerie composition." On the other hand it makes me laugh every time I hear it. Thank you.
Please head over to FEARnet, to read a superb interview with Michael Bailey (at this point I've typed this guy's name so many times I'm going to accidentally start using it on my checks), editor of the Chiral Mad anthology (and fine author therein and there-not-in). My story "The Apologies" adorns some dead tree skin, next to 28 terrific stories guaranteed to make you simultaneously dyspeptic and eupeptic, in the best way. And thanks Mr. Bailey for including my name among those which readers will one day recognize! (Although actually, I have a feeling there's a lot of people recognizing Erik T. Johnson's name-- I really should've chosen a pseudonym like . . . erm . . . Michael Bailey, or something. But in such a bittersweet way do things tend to trickle down the great ever-swinging Sickle of Life.) Krist I'm tired. Anyway, on to FEARnet! |
